Violinist Rachel Barton Pine discusses the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation Music by Black Composers (MBC) initiative, which was founded in 2001 to help rectify historic and ongoing racial injustices in the classical music sphere.

This video features footage of composer and violinist Jessie Montgomery and Rachel playing and discussing music by Black classical composers with students at PS 114 Ryder Elementary in New York. (Ms. Montgomery is featured in the MBC Coloring book of Black classical composers, as well as the MBC poster of Black classical composers through the ages. You'll also see Rachel working young artists from PS 114 who are studying MBC violin repertoire through The Harmony Program.
